Information Literacy at SAIC

Tips

  • When making assignments, remember that limitations such as “no online sources” or “print only” will eliminate valuable resources. Many scholarly and peer-reviewed publications are only accessible as e-journals or via online databases.

  • Requiring highly specific resources such as one university press, one database, or one particular journal make sense for some excercises, but not for general research. We can help create assignments designed to coach students in evaluating the reliability of their sources.

  • Make sure the library has the resources you are asking students to use. To put materials on Reserve for students please fill out our Library Reserves Form. If you have questions, please see our Library Reserves Instructions or email us at reserves@saic.edu. If the library does not have the resources, please suggest a purchase for Flaxman Library collections. Simply fill out our form.
