WHAT IS ON THIS GUIDE:
This guide is meant to provide a general overview of Generative AI including history, terminology, and the basics of how this technology works. As information professionals (librarians), we aim to give our community the tools to learn about emerging technologies that impact education, including artificial intelligence. We also have included some things to consider when interacting with AI, AI Literacy competencies + evaluation techniques, as well as resources for Faculty. This guide is a work in progress and was created in Feb. 2024. We welcome any feedback you may have for this guide - just email flaxman@saic.edu.
WHAT ISN'T ON THIS GUIDE:
This guide is not comprehensive, but rather a primer on this topic and ideas. We do subscribe to resources that can give you a more in-depth view of these tools, such as LinkedIn Learning Online Training, which can be accessed by current SAIC students, staff, and faculty. This guide does not include a school-wide stance or policies surrounding the use of AI in courses.
