How to Identify Scholarly Articles

- The author's credentials are clearly listed in the article.
- Often leads with an Abstract summarizing the contents.
- Scholarly articles are very formulaic, starting with an introduction section and ending with a conclusion section.
- The text is often using elevated or specific language (i.e. jargon or technical terms). Also notice there are NO ADVERTISEMENTS; this is often a very quick indicator that it is scholarly.
- References will always be cited, either at the end of the article or in footnotes.
