Taking note of the following elements as you find things will help when it comes time to finish your citations! 

  • Page name
  • Video title
  • Date posted
  • Length of video
  • URL
  • Date accessed

MLA - 8th Ed.

For this style: Double-spaced and hanging indent in the works cited page. This is an example of a Youtube video. For more extensive advice, see the Purdue Online Writing Lab’s MLA Works Cited Page: Electronic Sources page. 

Last Name, First Name of video creator or Username of Creator. "Title of Video." Title of the Hosting Website, Day Month Year of Publication, URL of video. Accessed Day Month Year video was viewed.

Arthur Read. "ARTHUR: Library Card Song!" Youtube, 10 June 2016, youtube.com/watch?v=lyxEDSnegTU. Accessed 15 December 2025.


APA 6th Ed.

For this style: Double-spaced and hanging indent in the references page. This is an example of a Youtube video. For more extensive advice, see section 10.15 in Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association, 7th edition.

Lastname, Firstname [or single username]. (Year, month day posted). Title of YouTube Video. [Video file]. Retrieved from URL.

Chicago 17th Ed.
