Artstor is the best resource for finding high resolution images of artworks in museums, galleries and private collections (ARTIC login required.)
1. Artstor is found on Databases A-Z and linked here. (As of August 1, 2024, Artstor lives on the JSTOR platform.)
2. Once there, you can search for artists, time periods, movements, etc. to find high-resolution, high-quality images of art.
3. Then you can...
- download images without registering for a separate account.
- use Workspace to save and organize images within Artstor by logging in with your existing Artstor or personal JSTOR credentials.
- If you don't have either of those, you can create a personal JSTOR account when prompted or by clicking the Login link and then Register for free. Tips for using Workspace can be found here. Note: There is a "don't ask again" link in the bottom left that will prevent the Artstor login pop-up from triggering again if a user does not wish to create a JSTOR account.
