I-Share is a group of 90+ libraries throughout Illinois that share materials with one another, expanding your access beyond the Flaxman Library! This tool is especially useful when Flaxman items are checked out, or if they fall outside of the scope of art + design. Note: please allow 3-5 days for I-Share items to arrive for pick up.
1. Use the Library Search on our homepage; use the drop-down menu to select I-Share instead of Almost Everything before clicking the magnifying glass, or hitting enter/return on your keyboard to search
2. Sign in using your ARTIC username and password
3. When you see a book is Not Available, it's time to use I-Share!
4. Click the title of a book you would like to request to see information about it; find the Get It heading and click Request from I-Share
5. This will open a pre-populated form, with the default pickup location as SAIC; select Send Request at the bottom
7. If your request was successful, you will see a confirmation message
6. You'll receive an email when your book is ready from the lending institution (not Flaxman Library) – come to the library with your ID card to borrow it
How to Find Books in All I-Share Libraries
To search materials from all 90+ libraries available to you: conduct a search then change the search bar dropdown to All I-Share Libraries, then click the magnifying glass again.
Checking Your Request's Status
1. You can check the status of your request at anytime by accessing your library account (tutorial available here), and choosing the Requests tab
2. From there, you can review the statuses of each loan or click Cancel if you no longer need it
