Found a dissertation or thesis but can't access the full text? A copy may be obtained through interlibrary loan; however, sometimes you can only get a copy by buying one. Check with Flaxman librarians (flaxman@saic.edu) before you buy!
Remember while you research: A dissertation is a final paper, based on original research, that is required in some disciplines to obtain a PhD. Theses are the same for a master's degree. Both are unpublished manuscripts and have not gone through the editorial process of published scholarly books. The bibliographies can be useful to identify more resources.

Metadata (information about the theses) comes from over 1100 colleges, universities, and research institutions. OATD currently indexes 7,464,811 theses and dissertations.
