The Wellness series includes resources for promoting self-care specific to activism and anti-racism work. To be effective, we must show up everyday. To show up everyday, we must take time to replenish our energy. These resources serve as a reminder of why self-care is a necessity, a mandate, a foundation upon which our work rests. These resources also provide opportunities to reflect inward on how we care for ourselves and others. Finally, these resources are meant to debunk the popular definition of wellness and establish a new definition rooted in empowerment, healing, and preservation.
As with every lesson, the multimedia content is meant to serve as a starting point for the necessary work we must do if we want to effectively dismantle systems of racism. The resources listed here alone, will not make you an expert. For meaningful and effective change we must continually deepen our awareness: utilize other resources to build competence, seek resources for guidance on how to be effective in anti-racism work, and stay informed on the issues that continue to affect Black, Brown, Indigenous, and people of color.
