A Note About Temporary and Expanded Resources

Due to the pressing need for electronic resources in higher education distance learning, many providers have given new or expanded access to that which was previously behind paywalls. We have been working to make these resources available, and to clarify which options are temporary or expanded resources. Each has a different timeline for access, and will be removed when it is no longer available. If you have a question about a specific resource, please email

Online Textbooks (no longer free)

(Updated May 27) REDSHELF and VITALSOURCE​ are major textbook providers that allow rental access for students at a discount, including Gardner's Art Through the Ages, Stokstad Art History, Ways of Seeing...

RedShelf Access: ($49+ for 180 day rental)

  • Visit RedShelf and create account if you're a new user (use school email). Search for title or ISBN.

Vital Source Access: (save up to 80% for some titles)

  • Visit Vitalsource’s Bookshelf login page and follow the instructions to create an account (use school email). Confirm your email, and search for books by title, ISBN, author. 

  • Books checked out through May 24 may still appear on your shelf.
