How to Find Images of Artworks

Artstor is the best resource for finding high resolution images of artworks in museums, galleries and private collections (ARTIC login required.)

1. Artstor is found on Databases A-Z and linked here. (As of August 1, 2024, Artstor lives on the JSTOR platform.)

2. Once there, you can search for artists, time periods, movements, etc. to find high-resolution, high-quality images of art.

3. Then you can...

  • download images without registering for a separate account.
  • use Workspace to save and organize images within Artstor by logging in with your existing Artstor or personal JSTOR credentials.
    • If you don't have either of those, you can create a personal JSTOR account when prompted or by clicking the Login link and then Register for free. Tips for using Workspace can be found hereNote: There is a "don't ask again" link in the bottom left that will prevent the Artstor login pop-up from triggering again if a user does not wish to create a JSTOR account.
