Faculty Guide for Online Teaching

 Panopto

You can upload videos and produce screen recordings for your courses using Panopto at SAIC. There are a number of helpful, visual, step-by-step guides in the Panopto page of the Canvas Faculty Portal

 Video Conferencing Best Practices

  • Turn on closed captioning in Zoom for accessibility
Closed captioning allows you or another meeting attendee, assigned by the host, to add closed captioning in a meeting. You can type the closed captions directly via Zoom or you can integrate a third party service, such as 3Play.
  • Tell participants when they are being recorded and/or the chat from the session is being downloaded
If you are recording an online session, it is best practice to tell your students prior to starting the session. Additionally, it is good to remind them that the host can see all chat conversations when they are downloaded (even those marked 'privately' between participants).
